Its History

In 1578, during the papacy of Gregory XIII, the cardinal Stanislao Hosio, started and founded the S. Stanislao Polish Hospice in Rome next to a church which was renovated in 1591 and consecrated with the new name of S. Stanislao V.M.


This residence provided hospitality to pilgrims from Poland and the rest of Europe for more than four centuries, with the exception of the period of Napoleon's invasion and the Russian occupation of Poland.


Today Hosianum Palace, Cardinal Hosio's home, is once again opening its doors to provide hospitality and return to its former splendor.

The splendid Piazza Navona, heart of BaroqueRome, with Bernini's beautiful Fountain of the Four Rivers and the church of Sant'Agnese di Borromini is less than 15 minutes away on foot, the Pantheon the grandiose Roman monument is 10 minutes from the hotel, the Trevi Fountain, the most spectacular fountain in Rome is a quarter of an hour from Hosianum Palace: a grandiose and very beautiful sight not to be missed, the picturesque Campo de' Fiori, with its traditional neighborhood market and characteristic Roman trattorias, is little more than 10 minutes from the hotel.

St. Peter's Square, place of Roman Catholic devotion and incomparable collection of centuries of paintings and sculptures of the greatest Italian art (both in St. Peter's Cathedral and the adjacent Vatican Museums), can be easily reached by bus 62 which leaves from Largo Argentina. 5 minutes from Hosianum Palace, and goes directly within 150 meters of St. Peter's Square.

By plane

From Rome's Fiumicino Airport or Ciampino Airport
Take the Leonardo Express train (from Fiumicino) or one of the shuttle buses to Termini Station. Take bus no. 64 and get off on Via delle Botteghe Oscure or no. 170 and get off at Piazza Venezia then walk along Via di San Marco, continue on Via delle Botteghe Oscure and turn left on Via dei Polacchi. You have arrived, the hotel Hosianum Palace is at no. 23.

By train

From Termini Station take bus no. 64 and get off on Via delle Botteghe Oscure or no. 170 and get off at Piazza Venezia then walk along Via di San Marco, continue on Via delle Botteghe Oscure and turn left on Via dei Polacchi. You have arrived, the hotel Hosianum Palace is at no. 23.

By car

From the Grande Raccordo Anulare take exit 1 (Aurelia towards the center - centro), continue on Via Gregorio VII until you reach the Lungo Tevere, drive along the river and turn onto Ponte Garibaldi, cross this bridge and take Via Arenula (this is the beginning of the pedestrian area), when you get to Largo Arenula turn right on Via Florida then Via delle Botteghe Oscure, the second turn on the right is Via dei Placchi, Hosianum Palace is at number 23.

 

To get to the Vatican from Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, there is a stop for bus 64 just a 3 minute walk away.
